Honor & Love

You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rai

What a Proverbs 31 woman is to me.

A Proverbs 31 woman to me is a woman that takes care of all aspects of her home such as her husband and children. She labors in prayer for her family night and day, wakes them up to breakfast in bed, respects herself, husband, and her children, she has respect for all. She is humble, soft spoken, apt to teach, and a good listener. She is a help meet to her husband, always lifting his spirit, never making him feel beneath her, anyone else, or anything. She has wisdom and stores for rainy days, mak… Continue

Interview with Candie Price

Dominique: Hi Candie! I'm so thankful that you have taken the time out to speak to our ladies. Tell me, what type of Lady of Christ are you? Are you married, single?

Candie: I have been married to my husband, Rev. Arthur Price, Jr for 18 years. If I were to characterize myself I would say that I am a creative spirit. It is my desire to uplift the body of Christ and to witness to the world through creativity and ingenuity, especially through the written word.

Dominique: God surrounds us with such wonderful people, tell me about your family and those who closely surround you.

Candie: My husband is a hard worker and totally sold out to Christ. He is committed to preaching God's Word and seeing God's people grow in grace and knowledge. My children, Eboni, 16, and Amyna, 13, are wonderful young ladies both pursuing careers in the arts. They are my world and the driving forces behind my drive to succeed.

Dominique: I know I didn't understand God's power until I was older but tell me at what age did you realize that God had power over your life?

Candie: At a very early age I knew that God was preparing me for something. I was never a follower of other people and always made up my own mind about everything. This strong-willed tenacity has spared me from a lot of heartache and trouble.

Dominique: We all go through trials and tribulation. What trials and tribulations have you been through that have gotten you to this point in your life? That have made you into the woman that you are today?

Candie: My life began in the midst of trial - being born to a 16 year old single mother. My mother's choices would follow me for many years to come. She became addicted to crack cocaine while I was in high school and I learned to care for myself. I lived on my own from the age of 18 and became a responsible adult - handling bills, rent, etc. Throughout all of the turmoil, the Lord kept me = I stayed in church, did ministry in church and continued to worship and praise God for his provision and protection. I am blessed to say that my mother is saved and drug free today. I could name a million things the Lord has done for me - but this is definitely one of the major traumas I had to live through.

Dominique: I know we could say a million things about ourselves but tell me one word that describes you? Why?

Candie: Loyal! I pride myself on being a loyal friend to those I call "friend". I do not take the word "friend" lightly - even if I don't talk to my friends often I would do anything for them and be there if they need me.

Dominique: Raising a young girl can be tough. What morals would you teach your daugher for today's world?

Candie: I try to instill in my girls to be independent, strong, and women of character and purpose. I teach them to be leaders who act responsibly. Most of us are leading someone - but where are we leading them? Are we being good examples and representing the Lord as we should? It is important to me that they understand that the choices they make don't just affect them, but often times affects others as well and even more importantly, one bad choice could bring your whole world crashing to the floor. I want them to analyze their decisions and to make them wisely and prayerfully.

Dominique: What do you think today's society is doing to our women?

Candie: In all reality, society can't do anything to our women that they don't allow to be done! We have got to stop walking around with a victim mentality and take control of our own images in society. What are we doing to counteract any negative images or stereotypes? I refuse to be victimized by whatever standards society says I have or don't have. I am a child of the most high God and in Him I am more than a conqueror. Our ladies and young women must have pride in themselves and know that they are not the sum of what others think about them! The best way to get that view of oneself is through the Word of God!

Dominique: I love to read my bible. What scripture do you live by and one you'll never forget?

Candie: Isaiah 41:10

Fear thou not for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Dominique: Life can be pretty busy and we do tend to forget what's truly important. How does God surround your life everyday?

Candie: The work I do every day to inspire others and encourage others solidifies the fact that God is surrounding me because I know that in my own flesh, my own ability I could not do it!

Dominique: What gifts have God given you? Tell us about your hobbies and current projects.

Candie: The Lord has gifted me to be a teacher of His Word, a writer, a magazine publisher and editor. My first book, First Lady: The Real Truth, was published in 2007 and my second book, a devotional of articles, will be released in October, 2008. I am the Editor-in-Chief/Publisher of WOW! (Women of the Word) Magazine and I write daily devotionals to help others get through their work week. I love designing web sites and creativing engaging ministries for others. My websites are wowmagazine.org, candieprice.com, vacantchurches.org, joy2bhizz.com and I have a social network for Christians - ministryminded.ning.com. I love doing things for the body of Christ!

In my spare time I love to read and spend time with my family.

Dominique: Lastly but certainly not least, our women need encouragement. I believe now is the time for change. What is your message for our ladies of today?

Candie: Before you embark on a career, on marriage, on any major life change - know yourself! know who you are - what are your likes, dislikes, what can you live with or without? What is your passion - your ministry! knowing yourself before you go out into the world is half the battle - you won't waste a lot of time trying to please others or doing things you don't want to do! I know plenty of people, say for instance who are lawyers - spent a lot of time and money being lawyers, a lot of time working as a lawyer - but hate being lawyers! What a waste of the precious time God gives us! Discover yourself and discover God's purpose and plan for you - it will help fulfill your life immensely!

Dominique: Candie, thank you so much for joining us. God bless you and your family. I pray your message touches women all over.
